Story abstract
unravel (v.)
c. 1600 (transitive), from un- (2) + ravel (v.). Intransitive from 1640s. ” The prefix is either reversive or intensive, according as ravel is taken to mean ‘tangle’ or ‘untangle'” [Century Dictionary].
The only thing that remains in order to survive together is to solve, untangle or undo what was previously done, becoming untangled. It’s about disengaging and separating the threads that used to make each partner feel as if they were still in one piece, but then ended up entangling them. It’s only when two people are both willing to do that that they can truly unravel, resolve the intricacy, complexity, and obscurity of who they have become.
Who have Michael and Lisa become? Who will they be at the end of this journey?
A story beginning in 2004 and finding real closure only in 2011.
“And what happens when all the threads of the tapestry have been traveled? Do you then go over them again and again in an attempt to relive the best parts? Because nothing will be like that first experience. Nothing.”
